Braces & orthotics

Knee braces

Knee braces are orthopedic support devices designed to provide stability, compression, or controlled movement around the knee joint.

They are commonly used by individuals recovering from knee injuries, experiencing joint instability, or managing certain knee-related conditions.

Depending on the design, a knee brace may provide light compression, additional side support, or restrictions on certain movements.

Different styles are available for everyday support, rehabilitation, and activity-related needs. The appropriate type depends on the individual's condition and recommended level of support.

Fit and movement control

  • Different levels of support

The amount of knee support depends on the brace design.

  • Prescribed hinge settings

If a hinged brace has been prescribed, its position and movement settings are part of the care plan.

  • Your fitting instructions

Ask the treating team how to put it on and when to wear it, and leave prescribed hinge settings as instructed.

Checking comfort and condition

  • Notice rubbing or pressure

Pay attention to rubbing, pressure and changes in skin comfort.

  • Position and cleaning

Keep the brace in its instructed position and follow the care team's advice for cleaning and skin checks.

  • When to contact your team

A damaged brace, persistent irritation or a change in leg sensation should be discussed with the treating team.
